O 71º Emmy Awards aconteceu ontem no Microsoft Theater, em Los Angeles. A cerimônia, promovida pela Academia de Televisão dos Estados Unidos, é considerada o Oscar da TV. Game of Thrones venceu o principal prêmio da noite: melhor série dramática do Emmy 2019.

A série da HBO, que chegou ao fim em maio com sua oitava e última temporada, desbancou nomes de peso na categoria: Killing Eve, Ozark, This Is Us, Better Call Saul, Pose, Succession, e Segurança em Jogo (Bodyguard).

De suas 32 indicações, Game of Thrones levou 12 prêmios, a maior parte nas categorias técnicas. Este foi o último ano de reinado da saga épica no Emmy. A série também ajudou a alavancar os prêmios da HBO, que levou 34 prêmios na noite, enquanto Netflix conquistou 27 e a Amazon, 15.
